What are the benefits of Haldi?

Turmeric(Haldi) is specifically grown in  Bengal, Bihar, Madras, and Dehradun, among other countries.

It is used as a medicinal substance. Turmeric is considered to be an auspicious item and is used in yellow clothing for special occasions.

The plant turmeric resembles ginger and has leaves that are 1 to 1.5 feet long and wide with a fragrance similar to that of mango.

The plant produces flowers that are 1 inch long and are found in 4-6 inch long bracts. The flowers bloom during the annual season. The fruit is spherical, round, and elongated with a yellow interior.

According to Ayurveda, turmeric has a bitter, pungent, dry, light, hot, and pungent post-digestive effect. It is a tridoshic remedy, appetizer, digestive, Pitta-reducing, and anthelmintic. It purifies the blood, improves urine color, and reduces its excess.

In Southern India, women apply fresh or dried turmeric powder on their bodies before taking a bath. This practice prevents the growth of unwanted hair and enhances the glow of their skin.

Turmeric is considered an auspicious substance in Hindu culture and is used both as a cosmetic and religious item.

It is an essential component of the bridal trousseau and is used in various ceremonies, including weddings and puja.

Without turmeric, a Hindu wedding ceremony is considered incomplete. It is also used in cooking, such as in making yellow rice for religious offerings.
